Bowness is a beautiful place to visit, there is something for everyone. There are really good bus links and there’s the lake cruise as well as being able to travel by boat to Ambleside!! There are lots of walks around the area too! Definitely worth a visit, we’ve been a few times already and would return again👍.

the room was a great size with lovely lake views - those views came at a price as hotel up a very very steep hill.
anyone with mobility issues would struggle - the steepness of the hill was not highlighted on either this website or Ro Hotel website that i could see

Where I stayed was quiet and away from the main road but only a very short walk to the nearest main road bars restaurants gift shops for example.
10 to 15 minute walk down to Bowness on Windermere pier at the pierced the views were great we took one journey on one of the fairies which gave us wonderful views of the surrounding area the boat was extremely clean and very smooth.
Buses were regular every 20 minutes to half an hour it was a bit confusing at some bus stops in different places like Grasmere for example and Ambleside.
The 599 open top bus was nice with a audio tour guide of the surrounding area for your journey.
Overall our stay or was very pleasant we manage to do everything that we plan to do within our five day trip.
The two standout places for me was wast water which is a must see and Rydal water but to be honest it's beautiful whichever place you go to disease just get better and better.

Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere.
Bowness is a lovely location on Lake Windermere. If you like trips by water, it is a good place to visit but a bit lacking in things to do apart from that. There is a good bus service to Kendal or Keswick but leave the car and use public transport. You can go to Ambleside by boat or bus but the town is packed during the summer season.

The location was just perfect.
The location was just perfect. It was central for us to adventure out and explore the Lake District. It was also an exciting location for relaxation in the evenings. Lots of fine restaurants and pubs to choose from with a lovely holiday atmosphere abounding everywhere.
Regretfully the car ferry was out of order and not available to us. That was a bit of a nuisance as our touring plans had envisaged that being available. None the less we had a fabulous holiday and were not overly put-out by the loss.

The staff and owners all consistently went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, as well as to help with directions and/or recommendations for walks and restaurants in the Lake District. The breakfast was delicious and healthy, with a variety of choices, and we received very pleasant service from all involved. The hotel building was quaint and beautifully appointed and the large garden was absolutely lovely. A bonus was meeting Alfie and Rosie, the adorable and affectionate resident Border Terriers!
Graham was really pleasant and allowed us to park the car at the door to drop off our luggage.
The carpark was only a few minutes walk away.
Rooms were clean and tidy. Shower and bathroom bigger then expected and fabulous to use as we were two girls sharing getting ready for a wedding.
Breakfast was delicious, presentation beautifully set out. All other guests seemed friendly and chatted.
It was a stones throw to the belsfield hotel to which our wedding was.

The spa is the best I've ever been in, so lovely and the poolside bar is a real bonus!
The cocktails in the bar are of great quality!
Rooms were clean and spacious. Little extras in the room were nice. Got a lake and mountain view without paying for a room that offered the views which was a bonus. Staff were warm and welcoming. Very impressed with the stay. Breakfast is buffet style with lots of options and the food was lovely. 2 minute walk to the centre of town. Nice and quiet on a night. Didn't hear much noise from other guests rooms. Will definitely be staying here again.
Excellent location in Bowness very close to the lake and amenities. The room was clean and very comfy, the bottles of water and Kendal mint cake were a nice touch. The staff were excellent nothing was to much to ask, with a special mention to the two lads in the Bar. The food in the restaurant was fantastic, reasonably priced and large portions. I can't speak highly enough of this hotel.

Lovely hotel close to lake Windermere, comfortable rooms, wonderful decor and reminiscence of Beatrix Potter throughout. Delicious food and drinks and beautiful garden for sunny days. Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere in easy reach; ferry to Hawkshead on the west side of the lake is also close by which makes it great for day trips around the lake
The Flat was kept beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could need and the shower room was clean and up to the minute in style. The decor was to a high standard some beautiful finishing touches. The flat was well equipped and in a very good position for the shops, restaurants and cafes in Bowness on Windermere.
Centrally located in Bowness on Windermere and good for shops, food, pubs etc. Has a nice seating and eating area outside. Breakfasts were good and set in a lovely calming environment. Room servicing was excellent. Extra tea and coffee for your room freely available in the hallway.
The dining in the evening at Henrock was fantastic and the waiting staff were very attentive. In the morning we had breakfast at the hotel too and again the food did not disappoint, nor did the staff. Overall a fabulous experience and we shall definitely return.
Great apartment with everything you need, spacious, well equipped, clean and modern. Location also excellent as it's up the hill from the middle of town, with some nice views of Lake Windermere, but still only a 10min walk in via a relatively flat shortcut.
Beautiful hotel in a prime location, lovely interior, very helpful, friendly staff, food was absolutely gorgeous, will definitely recommend The Belsfield Hotel and we will definitely book to stay again.
The team was very friendly and helpful well lead by Jack Waring. I would highly recommend this hotel. Continental breakfast can do with an upgrade, especially bread selection.
